TCR COMES HOME 6th

Team Crisci Racing brought home a 6th place finish this weekend in the Oakland Valley Speedway Mediums class. The finish moves TCR from 8th to 6th (out of 18) in the Mediums standings, and decreased the point differential out of 5th from 110 points to 100 points.

The day started with 2 practices run smoothly. John Diotte Jr., the track raceshop owner and racing expert (who built the TCR racing kart) took to the track in the yellow #25 for practice with the lights class. John felt out the handling and power of the kart to its breaking point, when he made slight contact with the wall in turn 2. However, not much damage was done to the kart, other than a slight kink in the right rear wheel rim. This would not be the end of the contact for TCR...

In Heat 1, the #25 started in last place and worked its way up to 4th before being dumped in turn 2, sending the car up the track and into the marbles. The team would recover, but finish in 6th.

In Heat 2, for the first time in our history, the #25 was on the pole. This was a bad day for that to happen however, as the green lights weren't working at the track and so driver David Crisci had to judge based on watching previous starts when to step on the throttle. On the initial start of the race, the #25 jumped out too early. On the second attempt, not soon enough. The third attempt worked out well, and the team saw its first laps led all season. However, after being passed heading into turn 1, dust impaired the vision of Crisci, causing him to head straight for the turn 2 fence once again. Quick maneuvering saved the nose of the kart, but sent the right rear into the wall hard, destroying the rim and bending it into an oval shape. The team would continue on, however, and pilot the kart to a 6th place finish once again.

In the feature, trouble on the start of the race caused the #25 to get stuck back in the pack, and with little time to make it up. The team ended the day in the same finishing spot of the two heats - sixth - and with little damage to the kart.

This weekend's race marks the halfway point in the season, with TCR just 100 points out of 5th place.

The OVS points are awarded each race as such:

1st place - 200 pts
2nd place - 175
3rd place - 155
4th place - 140
5th place - 130
- ten point increments down until 22nd place
